Ulcanix + Sacred

By starting with Sacred Fire King Garunix in your hand, you can use your Fire King Island to add a Fire King High Avatar Kirin or Fire King Avatar Arvata instead, giving you additional utility that you wouldn't really have otherwise.

There are five lines to pick from, depending on your needs:

Sacred + High Garunix setup (with Ponix + High Kirin in your hand)

This combo plays a little lower to the ground, choosing to end on 2 Level 8s, ready to summon Garunix Eternity, Hyang of the Fire Kings.

This is preferable when you have a lot of non-engine or if Mulcharmy Fuwalos is used against you.


This combo plays under Nibiru, the Primal Being, as you only summon 4 times.

Under Mulcharmy Fuwalos, your opponent draws 1 card.

Steps

  1. Normal Summon Fire King Courtier Ulcanix.
  2. Activate Ulcanix: destroy Sacred Fire King Garunix, then add Legendary Fire King Ponix from your Deck to your hand.
  3. Activate Ponix: Special Summon it from your hand.
  4. Activate Ponix again: add Fire King Sanctuary from your Deck to your hand.
  5. Activate Sanctuary: place Fire King Island in the Field Zone.
  6. Activate Island: destroy Ponix, then add Fire King High Avatar Kirin from your Deck to your hand.
  7. Activate Sacred: Special Summon it from the GY.
  8. Activate Sacred again: destroy Ulcanix on your field.
  9. Activate Ulcanix: Special Summon Fire King High Avatar Garunix from your Deck.
  10. Pass turn.

Opponent's turn

  1. In the Standby Phase, activate Ponix: add it from the GY to your hand.

Promethean Princess setup (with Ponix + High Kirin in your hand)

Instead of destroying the Fire King Courtier Ulcanix on your side of the field, you can opt to destroy a second copy in your Deck. This allows you to extend the previous combo a little by Link Summoning Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames.

Then, by destroying her with the High Kirin in your hand, you get an additional interruption ready to use whenever you need it.


This combo plays safely into Nibiru, the Primal Being.

While your opponent can activate it, it doesn't make you lose any interruptions.

Under Mulcharmy Fuwalos, your opponent draws 2 cards.

Steps

  1. Normal Summon Fire King Courtier Ulcanix.
  2. Activate Ulcanix: destroy Sacred Fire King Garunix, then add Legendary Fire King Ponix from your Deck to your hand.
  3. Activate Ponix: Special Summon it from your hand.
  4. Activate Ponix again: add Fire King Sanctuary from your Deck to your hand.
  5. Activate Sanctuary: place Fire King Island in the Field Zone.
  6. Activate Island: destroy Ponix, then add Fire King High Avatar Kirin from your Deck to your hand.
  7. Activate Sacred: Special Summon it from the GY.
  8. Activate Sacred again: destroy a 2nd copy of Ulcanix in your Deck.
  9. Activate Ulcanix in GY: Special Summon Fire King High Avatar Garunix from your Deck.
  10. Link Summon Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames.
  11. Pass turn.

Opponent's turn

  1. In the Standby Phase, activate Ponix: add it from the GY to your hand.

You can further extend this board by using Promethean Princess' effect, giving you the following options:

Why not summon Ponix?

The ability of this combo to play through Nibiru, the Primal Being hinges on you having Ponix and High Kirin in your hand to start the interruption sequence.

By summoning Ponix with Promethean Princess, you can no longer trigger its effect to return to the hand in the Standby Phase.

Arvata + Sunlight Wolf setup (with Ponix in your hand)

Alternatively, you can end on a Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf with nothing under its link, backed up by an Arvata.

By summoning Sacred under Wolf's link, you're able to recover High Kirin from the GY (or potentially an Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, if you used it by this point).


This combo stops Nibiru, the Primal Being, as Arvata is the 5th summon.

However, you'll be forced to destroy Sunlight Wolf if you don't have another FIRE in your hand, so be careful!

Under Mulcharmy Fuwalos, your opponent draws 1 card.

Steps

  1. Normal Summon Fire King Courtier Ulcanix.
  2. Activate Ulcanix: destroy Sacred Fire King Garunix, then add Legendary Fire King Ponix from your Deck to your hand.
  3. Activate Ponix: Special Summon it from your hand.
  4. Activate Ponix again: add Fire King Sanctuary from your Deck to your hand.
  5. Activate Sanctuary: place Fire King Island in the Field Zone.
  6. Activate Island: destroy Ponix, then add Fire King Avatar Arvata from your Deck to your hand.
  7. Activate Sacred: Special Summon it from the GY.
  8. Activate Sacred again: destroy Fire King High Avatar Kirin in your Deck.
  9. Activate High Kirin: Special Summon Arvata from your hand.
  10. Link Summon Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf using Ulcanix and Sacred.
  11. Pass turn.

Opponent's turn

  1. In the Standby Phase, activate Ponix: add it from the GY to your hand.

Remember Sunlight Wolf's restriction! You are not able to Summon the card you recover with it for the rest of the turn. As such, look to add a card that doesn't need to be Summoned this turn or grab something that can help you prepare for your next turn.

Promethean Princess + Arvata setup (with High Kirin in your hand)

You can also put it all together and combo up to a Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames backed up by Arvata, while also recycling a High Kirin with Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf.

It's a very powerful combo, but it comes at the cost of giving 4 draws under Mulcharmy Fuwalos, so be sure it's out of the picture before committing.

However, you'll be forced to destroy Sunlight Wolf if you don't have another FIRE in your hand, so be careful!

Under Mulcharmy Fuwalos, your opponent draws 4 cards.

You can skip the Sunlight Wolf recycle and go straight for Promethean Princess if you want, thus only giving 2 draws under Fuwalos. Keep that in mind as you weigh your options.

Steps

  1. Normal Summon Fire King Courtier Ulcanix.
  2. Activate Ulcanix: destroy Sacred Fire King Garunix, then add Legendary Fire King Ponix from your Deck to your hand.
  3. Activate Ponix: Special Summon it from your hand.
  4. Activate Ponix again: add Fire King Sanctuary from your Deck to your hand.
  5. Activate Sanctuary: place Fire King Island in the Field Zone.
  6. Activate Island: destroy Ulcanix, then add Fire King Avatar Arvata from your Deck to your hand.
  7. A chain forms:
  8. Activate Sacred again: destroy Fire King High Avatar Kirin in your Deck.
  9. Activate High Kirin: Special Summon Arvata from your hand.
  10. Link Summon Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf using High Garunix and Sacred.
  11. Link Summon Relinquished Anima using Ponix, under Sunlight Wolf's link.
  12. Activate Sunlight Wolf: add High Kirin from the GY to your hand.
  13. Link Summon Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames using Sunlight Wolf and Anima.

You can further extend this board by using Promethean Princess' effect, giving you multiple options:

  • Summon Sunlight Wolf under the other Extra Monster Zone, forcing opponents on Link decks to let you recover another card from the GY (or try to play around it).
  • Summon High Garunix (or Sacred, if you need it) for Garunix Eternity, Hyang of the Fire Kings material, or to setup a future board wipe.
  • Summon Ponix, which can be used by Arvata, High Kirin or Promethean Princess' effects, or can just be destroyed by Hyang so it returns to your hand next turn.
  • Summon any FIRE monster, then Link Summon Hiita the Fire Charmer, Ablaze using Promethean Princess and the summoned monster, thus setting up Promethean Princess in the GY while still keeping Arvata online.

Promethean Princess + Arvata + High Kirin setup

Last but not least, you can trade the Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf recycle for more interruption by ending on High Kirin alongside the usual setup.

  4. Activate Ponix again: add Fire King Sanctuary from your Deck to your hand.
  5. Activate Sanctuary: place Fire King Island in the Field Zone.
  6. Activate Island: destroy Ulcanix, then add Fire King Avatar Arvata from your Deck to your hand.
  7. A chain forms:
  8. Activate Sacred again: destroy Fire King High Avatar Kirin in your Deck.
  9. Activate High Kirin: Special Summon Arvata from your hand.
  10. Link Summon Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames.
  11. Activate Promethean Princess: Special Summon High Kirin from the GY.

High Kirin can either be used as material for Garunix Eternity, Hyang of the Fire Kings, or be destroyed by Hyang, triggering its second effect. This allows you to Special Summon a Fire King from GY (or hand), then destroy a card (maybe a Spell/Trap or any card that might have entered the field after Hyang was summoned).

A neat trick you can do with this endboard is using Arvata to negate a monster effect, destroying High Kirin on resolution. High Kirin's effect will trigger, Special Summoning a Fire King from your hand or GY, then you can destroy 1 card on the field (such as the monster negated earlier, turning Arvata's negate into a destruction effect too).
